Your Yorkshire Terrier cough? Dogs do not cough doing, so when you feel your dog making a noise like a cough, which should warn you that there might be a problem in sight. If it’s a hack, maybe there is something stuck in the throat of your dog. If it is a non-productive cough type of horn and your dog is a Yorkshire Terrier could be the beginning of the collapse of the trachea.

My yorkie has initiated a mild cough during the summer of 2007. At that time we had done for the restructuring of our house and I thought his throat was dry plaster dust and sawdust in the air. The cough does not happen every day, so do not worry about the progress. I have made every effort to keep the dust from vacuum and dust every day.

In the fall, had a veterinary check and I mentioned the cough. Our veterinarian said it was probably the collapse of the trachea. It requires Torbutrol as cough and after his first dose, he was so drugged that he could not stand, eat or go to his bowl of water. He said it was probably the rest of his life, taking two tablets a day.

Tracheal collapse is another victim, like my yorkie died of asphyxiation in his sleep Oct. 1, 2008. So if your dog make noises like coughing, please talk with your veterinarian to know what to expect. Collect as much information as possible and do everything possible to make your dog as comfortable as possible
